Coffeehouse transports students to the 1990s

Liberty University students revisited the 1990s during this semester’s Coffeehouse held late Saturday night (March 21) in the Vines Center. More than 6,677 students attended the event, the largest crowd to date for the spring semester.

Sponsored by Student Activities, Coffeehouse is held once a semester and features student talent in music, dance, and video production. Out of the more than 70 who tried out for this semester’s event, only 16 acts were chosen for Saturday night, in addition to six selected videos.

The acts included homages to popular television shows and films from the era, such as “Jurassic Park,” “Toy Story,” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” as well as artists such as DC Talk, ‘N Sync, and Spice Girls.

Chris Misiano, senior director of Campus Recreation, said that his staff worked hard this semester to decorate and provide a unique night for the student body.

“Coffeehouse is just one of many events produced by the Student Activities staff each semester,” he said. “However, Coffeehouse is one of the largest and most prominent of all of these events, and it perfectly encapsulates our mission. By providing a high-quality, professional event such as this, you can really see the way that we as a team are committed to the service and entertainment of the student body.”
