Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin’ Donuts now open at Residential Commons I

Liberty University's Residential Commons I, complete with a Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin-Robbins.

Liberty University opened the doors to a new campus Baskin-Robbins on Friday, Jan. 9, in Residential Commons I, serving 31 flavors of ice cream and adding to the other 20 dining venues available on campus. Additionally, Liberty’s Dunkin’ Donuts re-opened right next to the new ice cream shop.

Sodexo, Liberty’s dining service provider, coordinated with the construction team in the design and planning of the new location and will be in charge of managing it.

“We are constantly striving to add more dining options for students on campus,” said Louis Cambeletta (’90), director of food services operations. “Anytime you can bring something unique on campus, the students respond very positively, and it adds value to the meal plan.”

Due to construction, Dunkin’ Donuts was moved in October from its original location in the keyhole parking lot location on Champion Circle to a temporary one in the Vines Center. Its permanent home, alongside Baskin-Robbins, is conveniently located on the ground floor of the first high-rise residence hall.

Due to limited indoor seating, ice cream and donuts will be mostly carryout, however, a door connects the restaurants to the inside of the Residential Commons I, giving students the option to enjoy their order in the lobby. There are also plans to set up tables outside once the weather improves.

Six other retail-dining options are planned to open in 2016 in the new student center behind DeMoss Hall.

Baskin-Robbins is open from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. every day, and Dunkin’ Donuts operates from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-11:30 p.m. on weekends.
