Christmas decorations take over campus offices

An office decorating contest has given a boost to the Christmas spirit around Liberty University’s campus this month. With themes ranging from “Narnia” to the “Polar Express” to a simple few strands of lights, faculty and staff are showing off their talents and Christmas joy at the same time.

“It’s great to see everyone getting into the Christmas spirit,” said Amanda Stanley, assistant to the chancellor and a judge in this year’s contest. “This decorating contest is one way that the faculty and staff come together to celebrate the season and build team unity and camaraderie in their departments.”

The Admissions Processing office captured first place in the contest, which was sponsored by the University Advancement department. The winning office had a “Polar Express” theme, complete with train tickets, a conductor in costume and cookies for the “ride.”

Liberty University Online took home second place with a toys theme – each employee decorated their office space with their favorite toys. Decorations ranged from Transformers to Legos to a gumball machine.
Capturing third place was the Student Advocate Office. Staff decorated their office spaces with a “Chronicles of Narnia” theme.

The National Recruiting department won Honorable Mention with a “Grinch” Who-ville theme.
About a dozen offices participated and were judged on originality, arrangement of decorations, theme, Christmas spirit, sound/animation and overall presentation.
