Help Danny Rocco win Coach of the Year Award

Liberty University’s head football coach Danny Rocco has been selected as one of five finalists for the Division I-AA (Football Championship Subdivision) 2009 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award, and you can help him win it.

This is the second straight year Rocco has been named a finalist.

Vote for Rocco at www.coachoftheyear.com between Dec. 15 and Dec. 29. You can cast one vote per day. On the site, you can also create a “Super Fan” video, which can be personalized and sent to your friends to encourage them to vote for Rocco.

If Rocco wins the award, he will receive $50,000 for his favorite charities, $20,000 for the LU Alumni Association, a personal trophy and recognition in a permanent Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year exhibit at the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Ind.

Coach of the Year will be determined by a compilation of fan votes (20 percent), votes cast by a committee of College Football Hall of Fame coaches and players (55 percent) and the national college football media (25 percent). The selection committee will evaluate finalists on criteria such as coaching excellence, sportsmanship, integrity, academic excellence and community commitment.

Liberty Mutual will announce the winners at a reception in January in California.
