As the Liberty University community gathers on campus to share in the traditions and events of Homecoming this weekend, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the university have a new opportunity to advance Liberty’s mission by supporting future Champions for Christ. In the spirit of Homecoming, an anonymous donor from the Class of 1991 and his wife have created the Homecoming Matching Gift Challenge, agreeing to match up to $25,000 to go toward the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, which assists students facing a financial crisis.
“Nothing has had a greater impact on my life than Jesus and Liberty University,” the anonymous donor said. “In this dark and sinful world, we need Liberty now more than ever to train up students who love Jesus and want to serve him. As an alumnus, it is a blessing to give back and provide scholarship assistance to future Champions for Christ.”
The Alumni Association Scholarship Fund is the first scholarship to be funded directly by alumni to support students in financial need. Scholarships are awarded each year to eligible students.
The Homecoming Matching Gift Challenge will receive contributions in person throughout the weekend and online. More information will be available at check-in/registration in the Hancock Welcome Center.
