Alumni Relations Office excited to flourish and serve under new director

From Liberty University’s campus to Washington, D.C, graduate Giuseppe Cucci (’12, ’17) has worked to launch successful careers for Liberty students and build valuable relationships with alumni. Now, he will have the chance to impact more members of the Liberty family as the new director of Alumni Relations.

At Liberty, Cucci has served as an admissions specialist for Liberty’s online programs and was a part of the Career Services staff, where he helped improve relationships with government and educational organizations with the primary goal of seeing students land jobs. Most recently, Cucci was the program coordinator for the Washington Fellowship, Liberty’s internship program in the nation’s capital, where he helped grow the program’s reputation with many alumni working in the Washington, D.C. area and established the Liberty University D.C. Alumni Reception, held each fall and spring.

“I really recognized the need for our current students to interact with alumni,” Cucci said. “Their mentorship was highly important for the students’ future career goals and overall development in their field.”

He intends to carry on that work in his new role, with a goal to further Liberty’s mission of Training Champions for Christ.

“I’m excited to connect with more alumni, because they all play a crucial part in carrying out the university’s mission. We have some exciting opportunities planned for all Liberty alumni to connect with students, fellow alumni, and friends of Liberty.”

His vision is for the Alumni Relations Office to become an oasis for alumni who visit, whether they earned their degree on campus or online.

“We are here for every member of every class, from those who remember hearing our founder lay out the vision for Liberty University and his BHAG (Big Harry Audacious Goal) to those who have been here to see it unfold when the buildings went up and our academic programs expanded,” he said.

Cucci and his team will also set out to grow a network of effective alumni chapters across the country and share more stories from alumni who have contributed to their field and are serving the Lord around the globe.

“We want to share more of their stories, through our Class Notes online and through social media. We want to recognize their wonderful accomplishments.”

“I was really glad that Giuseppe accepted the job as the new Director of Alumni Relations,” said Jim Nichols, vice president of Development who heads Alumni Relations, Estate Planning, the Contact Center, and the Flames Club. “He knows this school and loves it. This is not an easy job and not for everyone, but he is up for the task and will do a great job in the coming years. He is looking forward to serving and building relationships with our alumni.”

Cucci earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice in 2012 and his MBA in 2017. He and his wife, Sarah (’13), have two sons: Daniel, 3, and Matteo, 1.
