Hands-on cultural experiences part of this semester’s Global Focus Week

Starting on Monday, Feb. 11, Liberty University students, faculty, and staff will celebrate Liberty’s biannual Global Focus Week (GFW) with special speakers and interactive events.

Held every semester, GFW hosts a variety of guests and representatives from international organizations, as well as events that introduce students to different cultures.

“Global Focus Week is an incredible opportunity for Liberty students to experience a variety of cultures and learn more about international issues,” said Steven Gillum, LU Serve’s director for international engagement. “The experiences and events are centered around the student’s passions to serve the Lord as global citizens. We are also thrilled to be able to bring more than 50 global organizations and companies who have unique opportunities for students: service internships, academic internships, post-graduate opportunities, or even just go serve for a week or two. These world leaders are coming from places such as South Africa, the United Kingdom, China, and Spain.”

Some of the events will promote Liberty’s G5 initiative, in which students engage in a different country each year through service and travel opportunities; this year the country is Spain. (Several trips are planned for Spring Break that will give students a chance to experience the country firsthand.)
