Sam Chelanga wins 10K national championship

Liberty redshirt junior Sam Chelanga is a national champion — again. He made history in Thursday night’s final race at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., dominating victory in the men’s 10K final to become the Flames’ first-ever men’s track & field national champion.

He also placed second in a tight 5K race on Saturday at the national meet.

Chelanga was crowned the Division 1 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Champion in November.
