The Research and Instruction department supports student learning by offering residential classroom instruction, synchronous or asynchronous online sessions, video tutorials, and other instructional materials. Faculty librarians work directly with teaching faculty to shape instructional sessions according to the faculty member’s desired learning outcomes. Our goal is to help students, staff, and faculty develop their research skills in order to use ideas and information effectively, efficiently, and ethically.
To discuss your needs or arrange a presentation for your class, please complete the Instruction Request Form at least two weeks prior to your requested instruction date. We contact you to finalize the details of your request. If you have any questions, please contact:

Class Presentations Overview
Library faculty are available whenever your class is in session, including evenings, weekends, and times outside of the regular academic calendar. Class presentations are:
- Tailored to your specific course needs
- Designed to engage specific course outcomes
- Scheduled from 20 minutes up to a full class period, depending on instructor preference and class needs
- Held in your classroom or in the library for “hands-on” instruction, depending on the class size and instructor preference

- Finding scholarly, peer-reviewed articles for freshman students
- Evaluating and engaging with fake news
- Exploring concepts and practices of the information literate researcher
- Using multi-disciplinary databases to identify gaps in the literature
- Finding test reviews for an education class
- Providing an overview of counseling resources available to graduate students
- Identifying and searching appropriate databases to find articles on discipline-specific topics

Training and Research Partnership
Research and Instruction faculty librarians are available to provide department-wide or individualized training for faculty, staff, and graduate assistants on specific resources or information literacy approaches. Topics include:
- Developing effective library assignments
- Incorporating information literacy skills into the curriculum
- Supporting research-intensive courses
- Assisting with personal research needs
- Partnering as co-investigators on research projects, papers, and presentations
Research Workshops are also available in the form of recurring seminars and online presentations.
