Dr. Vernon Whaley was born in Jacksonville, N.C. He sang in church as a child and played the trumpet in the high school band. He has produced over 100 recording projects from 1985-2005 and is the primary editor of two hymnals. He started and maintained the music publishing company, Integra Music Group, which specializes in producing major works for young voices.

He has served as a Minister of Music at several churches. He has also served as Music Department Chair at Welch College and has taught as an associate professor of music at Cedarville University. He has published several articles and books through Thomas Nelson, Prism Music, Baker Books, and Lifeway.
