Biography
Dr. Samuel Wellman’s professional activities have principally been in piano performance and composition. He has composed 1,500 pieces, mostly for piano. Over 200 of these pieces are hymn arrangements and nearly 100 have been published. In 1987, the Florida State Music Teachers Association honored Dr. Wellman with the Commissioned Composer Award.
From 1974 to 1992 he taught piano, music theory, and music history at Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, FL. Between the years 1980 and 2000, Dr. Wellman performed numerous solo piano recitals. Since joining the music faculty at Liberty University, he has served as piano accompanist to 63 stage productions (opera and musical theater) and over 200 student recitals.
Dr. Wellman has enjoyed teaching piano, composition, and music theory.
