Biography

Dr. Patricia Campbell is an award-winning singer and educator. Completing her undergraduate studies at Lynchburg College with a degree in Music Education, Dr. Campbell holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Maryland at College Park and a Doctor in Voice Pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory.

Dr. Campbell has performed throughout Virginia and Maryland/D.C. in opera, oratorio, and musical theatre as well as serving frequently as a church soloist. In 1999 she won the Fairfax Choral Society’s Young Artist Competition and performed as guest soloist with the Fairfax Symphony and chorus. Most recently, Dr. Campbell conducted her doctoral research on black gospel singing with Dr. Thomas F. Cleveland and Dr. Mark Williams. She presented her research at the Voice Foundation Symposium in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

In addition to performing and researching, Dr. Campbell has served on the faculty of Longwood University, Lynchburg College, and Washington and Lee University.

Dr. Campbell is a member of the National Association of the Teacher’s of Singing (NATS) and has had students eligible to compete at the National level in the student auditions. She also served as secretary for Virginia’s NATS chapter.

Dr. Campbell has been teaching at Liberty University for the majority of her teaching career. She maintains her education and interest in both classical and commercial vocal pedagogy.
