November 10, 2008

On Tuesday, November 11, Liberty University School of Law will have the distinct privilege of hosting the Honorable Michael E. Hegarty for a speaker’s forum in the Mountain View Room at 11:45 AM.

Judge Hegarty currently serves as a United States Magistrate Judge from the District of Colorado. Judge Hegarty hears and rules on all pre-trial proceedings involving civil and criminal matters and he spends a significant amount of his time conducting settlement conferences in civil cases. Judge Hegarty has successfully assisted in the resolution of 92 percent of all cases presented to him for settlement.

Judge Hegarty has an extensive legal background which includes employment discrimination, personal injury, federal appeals, Administrative Procedure Act suits, natural resource law, immigration cases, Social Security disability cases, and other constitutional matters.

The Center for Career and Professional Development and the law school’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Board are co-sponsoring Judge Hegarty. Judge Hegarty is also the proud father of Matthew Hegarty, a second-year law student at Liberty University School of Law.
