Competition teams score major victories
April 08, 2016
Liberty Law students competed over the weekend of April 1-3, 2016 and brought home great success stories from across the country as well as here in the Lynchburg area.
Two teams competed in the National Basketball Negotiation Competition hosted by the Fordham Sports Law Forum in New York, New York and were among the final eight teams out of the original thirty-six participating.
According to the Forum’s website, the competition consists of head to head negotiations between teams of two competitors. Negotiation problems are based upon real-world scenarios relating to the National Basketball Association. The competitors are scored solely on oral argument performances, as there is no brief writing component.
Liberty’s team of Mia Yugo and Derek Green knocked out all remaining teams to win the competition.
Kendra Roth and Stephen Jones advanced to the quarterfinals after a series of highly competitive rounds but were eliminated before reaching the semifinals.
Additionally, two Liberty Law teams participated in the Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition hosted by Elon University School of Law.
The teams of Ben Rathsam/Robin Jenkins and Erika Lukenbill/Kristen Rose were awarded as semifinalist out of 39 participating teams at the annual event.
Congratulations to all of the student competition teams for their honorable representation of Liberty Law.
