What is ALD and How do I Join?

Requirements for Membership

  • You must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a baccalaureate (Bachelor's) degree at an accredited institution with an active ALD chapter on campus.
  • You must have a 3.5 or higher career gpa (on a 4.0 scale) at the end of your first or second semester as an undergraduate.
  • You must have no repeats, no incompletes, and no failures.

The Application Process

  • You should receive an email letter of invitation to join from our chapter via the National ALD MyHonorSociety during the 2nd or 3rd week in February with instructions of how to accept your invitation to join online.
  • If you feel you meet the requirements and have not received an invitation to join by the end of February, contact our Administrative Advisor: .
  • There is a one-time (life-time) membership fee currently set at $45.00 ($25.00 are for national dues, and $20.00 are for local chapter dues). You will never have to pay anything more to maintain your membership status:  "Once a member-always a member" .

The Initiation Ceremony and Reception

  • The initiation is a ceremony which inducts you into the National and Local ALD.  You will be notified of the initiation date and location in your letter of invitation to join.  National Alpha Lambda Delta refers to this ceremony as an "initiation".
  • You will be presented your ALD initiate's key and your certificate.
  • You may invite family members and friends to the ceremony.

ALD Officers

  • Your online invitation to join will also include a list of questions concerning becoming an ALD officer.  Just complete the form and our Faculty Advisor will email you of when and where to meet to discuss the officer positions.
  • Installation of Officers is a part of our Initiation Ceremony.
  • Serving as an ALD Officer fulfills your CSER for that year.

Eligibility Requirements for LU Online Students

  • Liberty University Online students who meet the requirements noted above may join ALD.  If you are eligible to join, you will receive an email invitation to join letter.  We realize that you will not be able to attend the meetings and participate in activities here on campus.  Our Administrative Advisor will always advise you of our activities and ask you to feel free to participate in those in which you are able.
  • Ywill be invited to participate in the Initiation Ceremony and Reception but it is not mandatory for you to attend:  you are still a member!  If you are here in the area and can participate, then we think you would certainly enjoy it!  If you are unable to attend, our ALD Administrative Advisor will mail your certificate, your initiation key, and a program to you.
