Richard Glass

Bio: Prior to joining the Career Center staff, Richard served 30 years in the private sector business world, with 15 years in the information technology industry as an executive responsible for providing multi-million dollar solutions and professional staffing services to private and public sector operations throughout the United States.  He experience includes starting and working with 501(c)3 non-profits, working with federal, state and local governments, Fortune 1000 corporations, small businesses, and ministries across the country.  He has served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Discipleship Teacher, and a Private School Board Member.  He is married with four children, two that are married as well, three granddaughters and one great grandson.

Bio:  Kathleen has served over 20 years in the private sector business world with a career that has spanned multiple industries (accounting, consulting, airline, energy and online retail) and across all disciplines. She is an owner of small business that has global customer base.  In her prior roles she was also a hiring manager, a member of key recruiting teams at major universities, and a liaison between career centers and employers. So she understands the needs and constraints of employers and students.

Kathleen finds great joy in connecting employers with students as these relationships can truly change a person’s life and positively impact his/her future. She has served on numerous boards for organizations, higher education and ministry-related charities.

Bio: Maureen and her family moved from Northern Virginia to Lynchburg in 2014. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Maryland, Maureen attended the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland University College, where she received her paralegal certification before focusing her attention on raising a young family. Maureen is a firm believer in Christian education and began a career that spans 15+ years in the primary and secondary Christian education settings performing administrative, communications and admissions work. Maureen is a Liberty University Online student and feels blessed to be a part of such a dynamic Christian organization. She and her husband have five children, two of whom are married and three who are currently in high school. Maureen and her family are happy to call Thomas Road Baptist Church and Lynchburg their new home.

Bio: Lana is recent Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design, who began working for the Career Center in 2013 as a student worker assisting with events and graphic design. In her role at the Career Center she manages and works alongside 8 student workers as they serve the office in a variety of different ways. Lana is also working towards an M.S. in Strategic Communication and hopes to continue to grow and develop her creative skills. She is happy to be part of the Career Center team and is excited to see the Lord work in each of the students’ lives.

Bio: With a previous focus on teaching and volunteer leadership, Tracey had the opportunity to begin as the Career Center’s Office Manager in 2008 and then as a Career Counselor the following year.  She is able to use her counseling education and teaching experience to meet with students individually as well as present to residential classes on professional development skills and tailor resume workshops to service graduate students.

Bio:  As an educator and administrator, who has spent considerable time training and assessing effective interactions between students and teachers, Linda has an approach to professional development that focuses on emerging competencies that meet the goals of professionals and employers.  Linda co-developed curriculum and taught Professional Development courses for first year students at Johnson and Wales University in Providence RI.  She has taught and directed education programs for young children, in which she trains staff and college student teachers.   Linda encourages Liberty students to build skills for career success while they learn, volunteer, and work during college.  She considers it a blessing to be able to engage students in actively thinking about and practicing now the skills necessary for their success in all aspects of their lives going forward, and to inform and guide Liberty students and alumni in the use of the variety of tools the Liberty University Career Center offers them.

Bio: As a recent graduate of Liberty University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Amanda found her passion for working with college students during her practicum experience at William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Amanda co-taught a Professional Development course, as well as assisted students with career exploration utilizing the FOCUS 2 assessment. It was during this experience that her desire to help students reach their career goals began to grow. In addition to her responsibilities at the Career Center, she also serves as a Clinical Counselor at Hyland Heights Baptist Church where she counsels women of diverse backgrounds. BioAfter years of working for the State of Virginia as a WIC Coordinator and HR Analyst, Lee Ann thoroughly enjoys working in the Career Center where Christ is honored.  Her experience includes; mentoring interns, onboarding, employee training, interviewing, teaching, and counseling. Each day in the Career Center, she enjoys listening to students as they share unique stories of how God brought them to Liberty. She considers it a privilege to serve and encourage each student. Lee Ann and her family enjoy cooking together, going to historical sites and just hanging out. She works in the Divorce Care Ministry at Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Bio:  Mike is a native of Florida, who became a Christ-follower as a child, and developed a passion for youth ministry and Information Technology services as a young adult. His professional background includes several years as a Systems Engineer/Programmer in a global company and several years as a pastor in local church settings as well as being a Campus Pastor at LU. Now, Mike is helping LU men and women through career counseling and professional development. He married a local Virginia girl, Kym, also a LU graduate, and they have three sons (Luke, Josh, & Zach) and one daughter (Elle). Mike’s Hallmark Purpose is to press on as a maturing Christ-follower, a winsome Christ-like instrument of righteousness and encouragement to others, engaging in good works, pointing people to be who God wants them to be and do what God wants them to do, all for the glory of God (key verse: Phili. 3:14).

Bio: Justin Emanuel Mercer, Sr. is a native of Fountain, North Carolina. He spent most of his adult life living in Raleigh, NC where he worked in the area of health care for UNC-Chapel Hill Hospital of Chapel Hill, NC and Vidant Health of Greenville, NC.  He also worked in the field of education as lead science and bible life teacher at Upper Room Christian Academy. Recently, he served as the Director of Orientation and Retention within the Student Advocate Office at Liberty University and the Director of Distance Education Support Services at American National University in Roanoke, Virginia. He has a loving wife named Lori and three amazing children (Justin, Jr., Kellan Matthew, and Sara Loren Gould). Neat fact about just is he played football for the NC State Wolfpack. He is excited about working in the career center and is geared up to recruit the best employers for Liberty’s awesome students!

Bio: Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice: Public Administration. Before transitioning to the Washington Fellowship in June of 2015, Mark served as Employer Relations Coordinator for Liberty’s School of Divinity and Communication & Creative Arts. There, he worked with many companies nationally, recruiting their hiring efforts torwards Liberty University Career Events. As the Placement Coordinator, Mark travels to Washington, DC regularly to collaborate with many NGOs and Federal Government Entities on behalf of Liberty University’s Washington Fellowship. Mark is passionate about seeing young people succeed both personally and professionally, and enjoys interacting and networking with students, faculty, staff, and employers. He is a native of Saint Louis, Missouri and is a dedicated Cardinals fan. He currently resides in Forest, Virginia with his wife.

Bio: Giuseppe has ten years of business management experience working in his family’s successful business. Before transferring to his current role, he worked for nearly two years at Liberty University as an Admission Specialist in their online division. Additionally, Giuseppe serves as the local chairman for the Lynchburg Area Young Republicans, where He oversees campaign initiatives, manages an executive board, and directs strategic planning for the group. Bio: Shannon returned to Lynchburg, VA in August 2012 after 4 years in Tampa and 11 years at Smith Mountain Lake. She worked in software sales for IBM before helping found and operate several family businesses, including a lifestyle and entertainment magazine, ad agency, and a watersports retail shop. She is excited to be a part of the Career Center mission at Liberty University and is looking forward to pursuing her Master’s Degree in Sports Marketing in the fall of 2015. Shannon is possibly the world’s biggest college football fan and is blessed to be the mother of a wonderful son and daughter.
