Two Types of Article Databases

2. Subject Databases

  • Is your topic in a particular subject area?

If so, use a subject index. Subject indexes specialize in a particular subject, and the articles indexed are generally from scholarly sources. Examples of subject indexes and the kinds of articles they identify are:

Business & Company Resource Center
Indexes articles in business-related subjects such as management, finance, and advertising.
American History & Life
United States and Canadian history and culture from prehistoric times to the present.
Engineering Village
This resource allows you to cross search Compendex along with a 1000 book set of engineering titles on electronics, computing, and security and networking.
