Beth, I relate well with your thoughts and feelings - I'm very introverted, and use the same 'avoidance' techniques (e.g., emails, texts, voicemail) to avoid direct conversations. However, I don't mind speaking in front of groups - that's sort of a comfortable, detached anonymity - but I'm about as talkative as a fencepost when I'm in a one-on-one or small group conversation. It's always nice to hear a professor share from the heart. It's nice to realize that it's okay to be yourself, the way God made you. I, too, get drained if I am around a lot of people, yet God seems to keep putting me in social situations. Ever feel like Moses? You know, I'll go, but You, Lord, have to equip me! Thanks for sharing!
