On April 22, Liberty University Helms School of Government students Dalton Davis and Collyn Kim won the National Undergraduate Negotiation Competition, hosted by the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University.

Davis and Kim competed in two preliminary rounds — one virtually at the beginning of April and the April 22 event in person. Based on those results, Liberty was one of six teams to advance to the semifinal round.

In the semifinal round, they faced the University of Connecticut and ultimately advanced to the final round, when they negotiated against the host team from Baylor. Kim and Davis ended up winning the national championship with all three judges voting in their favor. Davis was named a top negotiator at the competition.

This was Liberty’s second time competing at the competition, and first time in person, capturing the second national title for its Pre-Law program in two years. The team is coached by Dr. Benjamin Rathsam, an associate professor in the Helms School of Government who also coaches the Moot Court team that won a national title in January.
