Liberty’s Jonathan Yaun birdied his final three holes of Round 2 at the Sea Best Invitational on Monday, helping the No. 40 ranked Flames climb into third place.

A combined six birdies on its second trip around the TPC Sawgrass – Dye’s Valley Course (par 70, 6,790 yards) allowed Liberty to move up a packed afternoon leaderboard.

Following the morning flight, Liberty was in seventh place in the 13-team field after an opening round 11-over par 291.

The Flames moved up the leaderboard four spots following an even-par 280 during the afternoon. Liberty enters tomorrow’s final round in third place with an overall 11-over par 571 (291-280).

No. 9 Florida is the lone team in red figures. The Gators finished their first 36 holes of play of the spring season with a 5-under par 555 (279-276).

No. 42 North Florida stands between Liberty and Florida in second place, 10 shots clear of the Flames with an overall 1-over par 561 (286-275).

Liberty enters tomorrow’s final round five shots ahead of No. 44 Louisville (285-291) and tournament host Jacksonville (284-292) with a 16-over par 576.

Six total players enter the final round in red figures, including four golfers from Florida.

Yaun posted his low round of the season during the afternoon flight, carding a four-under par 66. All five of Yaun’s Round 2 scores of the 2022-23 season have been below 70. Overall, Yaun is tied for 12^th place with a 1-over par 141 (75-66).

Austin Barbin (76-69) and Josh Ryan (74-71) are currently tied for 26^th place with a 5-over par 145. Barbin aided in Liberty’s strong closing efforts, carding birdies on two of his last three holes to match his low round of the 2022-23 season.

The Flames will return to the TPC Sawgrass – Dye’s Valley Course for tomorrow’s final round where they will be playing alongside golfers from Florida and North Florida. The teams will send players out off the No. 1 tee (par 5, 558 yards) starting at 9:12 a.m.
