    Nov 9, 2022 | Lynchburg Va | Women's Basketball

Talented shooting guard Ella Wigal has signed a national letter of intent to attend Liberty University for the 2023-24 academic year.

Ella Wigal (G, 6-0, Granville, Ohio)
Wigal is attending IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for her senior year following three impressive years in Ohio.

Wigal was a three-time All-Ohio performer and helped her teams win three consecutive district titles (Lakewood as a freshman and Granville as a sophomore and junior).

As a junior at Granville, Wigal averaged 15.6 ppg and 4.8 rpg to earn second team All-Ohio distinction for the second year in a row. She scored her 1,000th career point just six games into her junior season.

A 4.0 student, Wigal is also a standout in golf, placing fourth at the 2020 Ohio state championship.

“I am so excited and thankful to announce my commitment to Liberty University,” Wigal remarked. “Coach Green and his coaching staff have created a special culture that is unique to women’s college basketball. There is an atmosphere within the program that encourages each individual to identify their God-given talents and use them to serve a greater purpose. I am looking forward to doing big things at Liberty, both on and off the court.”

“After years of watching Ella compete, we are so excited to have her bring her passion and tough competitiveness to our program. She consistently knocks down the three-pointer while maintaining a balanced attack and finishing inside. “When I took Ella to Liberty basketball camp her freshman year, I knew it was a special place and would be a great fit for her.
