Weekly Press Conference: New Mexico State
Liberty Head Football Coach Hugh Freeze held his weekly press conference, Monday morning, from the Media Room of the Liberty Football Center.
During the weekly press event, Freeze gave his final thoughts on the Virginia Tech game, plus previewed this week’s home game against New Mexico State.
Liberty (8-3) will close out the regular-season on Saturday by welcoming future Conference USA foe New Mexico State (4-6) to Williams Stadium.
Prior to kickoff, the Flames will honor 21 seniors who have helped the team record three consecutive bowl game victories and achieve bowl eligibility again this season.
Liberty’s 21-member senior class includes: Aidan Alves, Michael Bollinger, Charlie Brewer, Brody Brumm, Khaleb Coleman, Daniel Darko, Micah Glaize, T.J. Green, Jerome Jackson, Durrell Johnson, Cooper McCaw, Austin Mock, Brayden Monday, Dennis Osagiede, Carl Poole, Javon Scruggs, Caleb Snead, Jason Stricker, Juawan Treadwell, Naasir Watkins and Rashad Whitehead.
Liberty is 3-1 against New Mexico State, having won the last three head-to-head meetings. The Flames are 2-0 versus the Aggies in Lynchburg.
Saturday will mark the Flames’ 30th home game as FBS members. Liberty is 24-5 at Williams Stadium since joining the FBS in 2018, including 4-1 this season.
The Flames are looking to snap a two-game losing skid, with the pair of losses coming by a total of four points. Liberty has played a nation-leading six games decided by three points or fewer in 2022, going 3-3 in those contests.
