The Starting 5 – Liberty's Top Storylines
• Liberty (1-2, 0-0 ASUN) will return to the road for the third time in four games to start the 2020-21 season, traveling to Memphis (0-2, 0-0 American) for a Sunday matchup.

• The Lady Flames, who will face the Tigers for the first time in program history, are 1-3 all-time versus American Athletic Conference opponents. Liberty will be seeking its first victory on an American Athletic Conference foe's home court.

• The game will serve as a homecoming of sorts for two of Liberty's five starters. Emily Lytle hails from Memphis, while Ashtyn Baker's hometown of Nesbit, Miss., is located just 20 miles south of the city.

• Lytle enters the game on the verge of a couple milestones. She is just two points shy of 800 for her Liberty career. Lytle has also made 23 straight free throws dating back to last season. The program record is 26.

• Baker became the first player ever to make a basket at Liberty Arena on Tuesday, sinking a three-pointer on the Lady Flames' opening possession of their 76-53 win over Norfolk State. She and Lytle are two of three Liberty players averaging double figures in scoring.

Notes and Anecdotes – Liberty vs. Memphis
• Sunday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between Liberty and Memphis. The Tigers are one of four first-time opponents on the Lady Flames' 2020-21 schedule, along with Ohio, Carson-Newman and Bellarmine.

• Liberty redshirt senior Emily Lytle, who hails from Memphis, will face the Tigers for the second time in her collegiate career. As a freshman at Little Rock, Lytle played five scoreless minutes in her team's 54-44 win at Memphis, Dec. 4, 2016.

• Liberty senior Ashtyn Baker is from approximately 20 miles south of Memphis in Nesbit, Miss. Baker, who graduated from Northpoint Christian School, was named Tennessee Miss Basketball in 2017 for Division II-A.

• Lady Flames Head Coach Carey Green is a Tennessee native, growing up in Louisville, a suburb of Knoxville.

• Green is 3-0 when facing Memphis Head Coach Melissa McFerrin, with all three victories coming when McFerrin coached at American. Liberty defeated McFerrin's Eagles in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07.

• The game will feature a pair of three-point sharpshooters who originally hail from Memphis. Liberty's Lytle tied the program record with 64 triples in 2018-19, her first season as a Lady Flame. Meanwhile, Madison Griggs hit a Memphis-record 96 trifectas as a freshman last season.

Liberty vs. American Athletic Conference
• Sunday's game will be Liberty's fifth all-time meeting with an American Athletic Conference opponent.

• The Lady Flames are 1-3 all-time versus conference opponents, including 1-1 vs. East Carolina, 0-1 vs. Houston and 0-1 vs. UCF. Three of their four American Athletic Conference contests have been decided by eight or fewer points.

• Liberty won its most recent American Athletic Conference matchup (81-66 vs. ECU on Dec. 3, 2019) after losing its first three meetings with conference foes.

• The Lady Flames' only previous game played on an American Athletic Conference court resulted in a 66-63 setback at ECU on Dec. 13, 2018.
