Liberty's Top Storylines

• ASUN runner-up Liberty (24-8, 16-2 ASUN) will tip off its fourth Postseason WNIT appearance and second in as many years on Thursday with its first-ever visit to MAC runner-up Bowling Green (27-6, 14-4 MAC).

• The Lady Flames defeated the Falcons 76-72 last season (Nov. 28, 2021) at the Navy Classic in the only prior meeting between the two teams. That victory improved Liberty to 6-2 all-time versus MAC opponents.

• Last season's triumph over Bowling Green marked career win No. 500 for Liberty Head Coach Carey Green. Now up to 547 wins, Green is one victory away from breaking a tie with former softball coach Paul Wetmore as the winningest head coach in Liberty Athletics history.

• Mya Berkman was named first team All-ASUN for the second year in a row. She leads the nation in field goal percentage (69.9) and paced the Lady Flames in points (17) and rebounds (15) during last season's win over the Falcons.

• Beavercreek native Emma Hess will play in her home state for the first time in her collegiate career. She has hit 60 of Liberty's program-record 212 triples this season and needs five more to break the Lady Flames' single-season record.

Notes and Anecdotes – Liberty vs. Bowling Green

• Liberty will tip off its fourth Postseason WNIT appearance with its first-ever visit to Bowling Green. The two teams have combined for 51 wins this season, the most among any of the 32 WNIT first-round matchups.

• The Lady Flames and Falcons were both seeded No. 2 in their conference tournaments and lost to the No. 1 seed in the final. FGCU snapped Liberty's 16-game winning streak with an 84-60 decision in the ASUN final on Saturday, hours after Toledo topped Bowling Green in the MAC final, 73-58.

• Liberty's Emma Hess has hit 60 three-pointers this season and needs five more to set a program single-season record. The Beavercreek native will play in her home state for the first time as a Lady Flame. Liberty's last visit to the Buckeye State was a 76-72 loss at Ohio in the 2020-21 season opener (Nov. 25, 2020). The Lady Flames' last win in Ohio was a 61-56 triumph at Xavier in the title game of the National City Xavier Invitational on Nov. 25, 2007.

• Other Lady Flames who hail from the Midwest include Dee Brown (Chicago) and assistants Andrea "Andy" Bloodworth (St. Joseph, Mich.) and Katie Mattera (Grand Rapids, Mich.).
