Twice As Nice; McDougal Claims Second All-American Honors At NCAA Championship

3/11/2006 12:00:00 AM | Track and Field

For the second day in a row, Liberty's Josh McDougal posted a result that would garner him All-American honors as the sophomore finished fifth in the 3,000 meters, Saturday evening, at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Randal Tyson Track Center.

McDougal finished fifth in the event with a time of 8:07.35, while Wisconsin's Chris Solinsky won the race with a time of 7:59.68. This marked the second-straight year that McDougal has finished fifth in the 3,000 meters at the national event as he finished last year's race with a time of 8:02.72.

Yesterday, McDougal finished fourth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:55.85, also earning the sophomore All-American honors.

McDougal now is a five-time All-American as he is a two-time All-American in cross country (2004 and 2005), a two-time All-American in the indoor 3,000 meter (2005 and 2006) and once in the indoor 5,000 meter (2006).
