Track And Field Program Concludes Coastal Carolina Invitational To Kick-Off Outdoor Season

The Flames kicked off their 2006 outdoor track and field season with 16 Top 3 finishers, including seven event winners, at the Coastal Carolina Invitational Saturday.

On the women's side of the event, Jamie Watson and Tra Screen finished first and third in the 400 meters with times of 55.96 and 58.52, while Rebekah Ricksecker and Danielle Jordan also finished first and third in the 1,500 meters with times of 4:44.72 and 4:53.99, respectively.

Piper Newby finished first in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:45.20, while the women's 4x100 relay team won with a time of 47.48. The Lady Flames' 4x400 relay team finished second with a time of 3:53.16, while Kena Butts finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.17.

On the men's side of the event, Ravanno Ferguson won both the 100 and 200 meters with times of 10:56 and 21.49, respectively, while the men's 4x400 meter relay team claimed victory with a time of 3:14.26.

Brandon Hoskins finished second in the javelin as he reached a distance of 56.43 meters, while Matt Parker finished third in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles with times of 15:06 and 55.33. Also, Liberty's 4x100 meter relay squad finished third with a time of 41.75.

The Flames return to the track March 16-18 as they participate in the Charlotte Multi-Event (Mar. 16) and the 49er Classic (Mar. 17-18) in Charlotte, N.C.
