Toscano Tabbed ASUN Defensive Player of the Week
Liberty lacrosse senior midfielder Mia Toscano has been named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in her career.
Toscano’s honor comes after the senior matched a season high with five ground balls and added two caused turnovers in Liberty’s 11-10 home victory over High Point, last Saturday. Toscano’s five ground balls were also tied for a game high. The Venetia, Pa. native also won two draw controls and scored one goal in the contest.
Toscano has garnered four ASUN weekly awards in her career, three defensive player of the week honors and one player of the week accolade.
The Liberty senior currently ranks 25th nationally with 2.80 ground balls and leads the team with 28 ground balls in 10 games. She also has 11 goals, seven assists and 18 points and is tied for third on the squad with 15 caused turnovers.
Toscano and Liberty (6-4) are taking on No. 7 Duke (11-1) this afternoon at the Liberty Lacrosse Field. First draw is 3 p.m.
