Several Flames Participate in ITA Regionals

Four Liberty Flames participated in the 2005 Wilson-ITA Mideast Regionals this past weekend at the University of North Carolina.

In singles, seniors Carlos Cardona (Bogota, Columbia) and Priit Pihl (Saue, Estonia) and sophomore Jarda Tojan (Prague, Czech Republic) competed in the main draw with no players advancing to the second round.

Pihl came the closest on the afternoon to victory, dropping a 7-6 (6), 6-3 match to the University of North Carolina's Sebastian Guejman.

In doubles, neither Liberty pairing of Cardona and Joseph Withers (Fr., Peoria, Ill.) or Phil and Trojan were able to advance out of the first round.

The ITA Men's Mideast Regionals close out the Fall Tournament season for the Flames. They begin Spring match play on January 28 by hosting Appalachian State indoors at the Sports Racket.
