Liberty field hockey forward Daniella Rhodes has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
This is the third career BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week accolade for Rhodes. The Lady Flames have now featured the conference’s offensive player of the week in back-to-back weeks to start the season, after Jill Bolton received the same honor a week ago.
Rhodes, a junior from Durban, South Africa, led the offense with two goals in No. 10 Liberty’s 5-1 road win at No. 25 Stanford, last Monday. She scored in the third minute and right before halftime in the 29th minute. Rhodes’ second goal, her fourth of the season, provided the Lady Flames a 3-1 cushion heading into halftime.
Through three games of the fall campaign, Rhodes ranks second on the squad in goals (4) and points (10) and tied for first in assists (2). The forward currently ranks sixth nationally in goals per game (1.33) and points per game (3.33).
Rhodes and 10th-ranked Liberty (3-0) will battle No. 4 Northwestern (3-1) in a top-10 matchup at the Liberty Field Hockey Field this afternoon. Game time is set for noon.
