Quast Named Liberty Lacrosse Assistant Coach

7/28/2022 12:42:23 PM | Women's Lacrosse

Liberty Lacrosse Head Coach Kelly Nangle has announced the addition of Hannah Quast as an assistant coach.

“We are beyond excited to welcome Hannah into a new role within our program. She has been instrumental in our success as a player and leader,” Nangle said. “I cannot wait to see the impact she will have on our program as a coach. The passion she will bring every day is going to make us all better. We can’t wait to get started!”

Quast was a member of the Liberty lacrosse squad for the last six years (2017-22). The Mullica Hill, N.J. native enjoyed a very successful senior season in 2022, earning ASUN All-Conference first team, VaSID All-State first team, ASUN All-Tournament team, ASUN Spring Winners for Life team and ASUN Academic Honor Roll accolades. Serving as a defender for the first time in her career this season (previously midfielder), Quast led Liberty in caused turnovers with 33 and ranked third on the squad in ground balls (43). Quast paced the ASUN and ranked No. 18 in the country in caused turnovers per game (1.74) while ranking No. 62 nationally in ground balls per game (2.26).

“Liberty Lacrosse has been a gift to me,” Quast stated. “I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to pour into the program that has changed my life forever. Go Flames!”

Serving as a team captain in 2022, Quast spearheaded a Lady Flames defensive unit which ranked first in the nation in caused turnovers per game (13.58) for the third time in program history and ranked No. 4 in ground balls per game. She also added two goals, two points and one draw control during the season. Quast tallied seven ground balls and six caused turnovers in two ASUN Championship games to close out her career.

Quast’s other accomplishments during her Liberty career include: ASUN All-Conference second team (2019), Big South All-Conference honorable mention (2018) and Big South Freshman of the Week (Feb. 14, 2017). She finished her career with 62 goals, 11 assists, 73 points, 148 shots (110 on goal), 108 ground balls, 76 caused turnovers and 25 draw controls in 73 games (65 starts). Quast is among the top 15 in program in history in career caused turnovers (tied for No. 7), games started (No. 10), games played (tied for No. 10) ground balls (No. 13), and goals (No. 15).

During her six-year career at Liberty, Quast appeared in three straight ASUN Championship title games (2019, 2021-22) and was a three-year team captain (2020-22). Quast and the Lady Flames won a program-record 14 games in 2019 and posted a combined 57-43 record during her career.

Quast received a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with cognates in sport management, family and child development and behavioral sciences in 2022. She went on to earn a master’s degree in human services counseling with a focus in addiction and recovery this past May.
