    Liberty pole vaulter Emory Pafford was named Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division Indoor Track & Field Women’s Field Rookie of the Year on Monday.

    The Lady Flames also garnered a trio of all-state recognitions, including Adelyn Ackley (first team distance), Grace Artis (second team throws) and Meredith Engle (second team jumps and multis).

    Capsules of each Liberty award winner are found below.

    Emory Pafford (Field Rookie of the Year) – Pafford saved her best performance for last as a freshman, pole vaulting a season-best 12-8.25 to place second at the ASUN Championship. That mark is tied for sixth in program history.

    Adelyn Ackley (1st Team – Distance) – Ackley played a key role in the Lady Flames’ ASUN team title, defending her 5K championship, placing second in the 3K and coming in fifth in the mile. Her 9:24.96 3K clocking at the Camel City Elite on Feb. 5 set the Liberty and ASUN Conference all-time records.

    Grace Artis (2nd Team – Throws) – Artis captured the ASUN women’s weight throw title with a personal-best mark of 63-10.5 which ranks No. 4 all-time at Liberty. That was her fourth top-three finish of the season, which also included a weight throw victory at the Liberty Kickoff.

    Meredith Engle (2nd Team – Jumps and Multis) – Engle was tabbed the ASUN Most Valuable Female Performer and Women’s Most Outstanding Field Performer. She won the ASUN pentathlon title (personal-best 3,896 points), took second in the high jump and placed fourth in the first triple jump competition of her collegiate career. During Engle’s ASUN pentathlon victory, she high jumped a personal-best 5-8.5 to match the meet and facility records.
