The Flames secured their sixth top-five finish of the 2021-22 season by wrapping up a fourth-place showing in The Hayt on Monday.

Following three trips around the Sawgrass Country Club (par 72, 6,966 yards), the Flames posted a score of 8-over par 872 (291-293-288).

Tournament host and No. 38 ranked North Florida claimed a one-stroke victory by posting a winning score of 4-under par 860 (276-296-288).

Individual medalist honors were shared by LSU’s Drew Doyle (72-72-66) and North Florida’s Nick Gabrelcik (67-73-70) with a winning score of 6-under par 210.

The Flames will continue the busiest part of their schedule when they travel to Franklin, Tenn., later this week to participate in the Mason Rudolph Championship. The three-day, 54-hole event starts on Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club (par 71, 7,100 yards).

Round Recap – Liberty’s Starting Five:

  • 56 Kieran Vincent – T5 3-under par 213 (71-70-72)
  • Austin Duncan – T13 2-over par 218 (77-73-68)

Field Reflections:

  • North Florida used its local knowledge to finish one shot ahead of No. 39 Charlotte’s 3-under par 861 (276-296-289).
  • The ASUN Conference was well represented atop the 15-team leaderboard as FGCU finished in third place with a 4-over par 868 (293-293-282).
  • Liberty finished five strokes clear of the top-ranked team in the field as No. 19 Tennessee finished in fifth place with a 13-overpar 877 (294-303-280).
  • A total of eight players in the 90-man field finished in red figures, including Liberty’s Kieran Vincent.

Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:

  • Kieran Vincent paced the way for the Flames, finishing in fifth place with a 3-under par 213 (71-70-72).
  • The fifth-place finish was the 24th of Vincent’s career at Liberty, which ranks second in program history (Robert Karlsson – 2009-12: 31 top-finished).
  • Austin Duncan finished tied for 13th place with a 2-over par 218 (77-73-68) to follow behind Vincent.
  • Duncan led the Flames during the final round on Monday, carding a 4-under par 68 thanks to carding five birdies during his last 10 holes.
  • Isaac Simmons, who was competing as an individual, finished tied for 17th place with a 3-over par 219 (71-76-72).
  • The Flames have posted six top-5 finishes this season in their eight events.
