    Poplar Grove Golf Course Information

    For the first time since 2015, the Liberty's men's golf team will host a home event when the Flames welcome Charlotte and Virginia next Monday and Tuesday.

    Liberty, who is currently ranked No. 14 in the latest Golfstat national rankings, will host No. 41 Charlotte and individuals from No. 39 Virginia in a series of match play events at the Poplar Grove Golf Club (par 72, 7,212 Yards) in Amherst, Va.

    Liberty and Charlotte will square off in Four-ball matches on Monday morning and Foursomes matches on Monday afternoon. The two teams will finish off the head-to-head match-up event on Tuesday morning with individual match play events. The winner of each match will earn their team one (1) overall match point.

    In addition to the heads-up event between Liberty and Charlotte, individual golfers from Charlotte, Liberty and Virginia will square off in their own match play events.

    The event is free and open to the public. Spectators will be required to remain on the golf cart paths at all times when walking around Poplar Grove Golf Club.

    Additionally, spectators will be required to wear a mask or face covering in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines established by the Governor's office of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Proper social distancing guidelines will need to be followed during this event, and no spectators will be allowed within 15 feet of the golfers at all times.

    Next week's event will be Liberty's first home golf event since the Flames hosted the Liberty Spring Invitational, April 10-11, 2015.

    Liberty finished the 18-team event in third place, while the Flames Mathieu Fenasse claimed medalist honors by winning the individual title in six-golfer playoff.

    This season, the Flames have consistently been ranked inside the Top 25 of the Golfstat national rankings. Liberty is currently ranked No. 14 in the country, matching its highest ranking in school history. Liberty has posted five-consecutive top-five finishes this season.

    The Flames are led by redshirt junior Kieran Vincent, who is individually ranked No. 10 in the country. Vincent has posted a 69.80 scoring average and has finished top-10 in all five events Liberty has played this spring.

    Alexandre Fuchs, who is individually ranked No. 50 in the country, ranks second on the team with a 70.73 scoring average. He has a pair of top-10 finishes, including a first-place finish at the Seminole Intercollegiate, where he posted a winning score of 11-under par 205 (65-65-75). 

    Spectator Information:
    • Spectators are to remain on the golf cart paths at all times when walking around the Poplar Grove Golf Course.
    • Spectators are required to wear a face mask or face covering all times.
    • Spectators are required to practice proper social distancing guidelines and are not permitted within 15 feet of the golfers at any point in time during the event.

    Tuesday, April 13
