    As the Liberty Twilight Qualifier takes place today, a pair of Liberty athletes won ASUN Conference weekly honors for their performance at Sunday’s Virginia Grand Prix. Naomi Mojica was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Kennedy Sauder won his second straight Men’s Freshman of the Week honor.

    A senior from Queretaro, Mexico, Mojica is now a six-time ASUN Field Athlete of the Week for her career. She won the Virginia Grand Prix women’s hammer (184-5), while placing second in the shot put (48-6).

    Sauder, who hails from Lauderhill, Fla., is now a four-time ASUN Freshman of the Week. He won the Virginia Grand Prix men’s high jump with a 6-11.5 clearance, giving him back-to-back victories to open his collegiate outdoor track & field career.

    After today’s Liberty Twilight Qualifier concludes, the Flames will be back in action at the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 12-14 in Jacksonville, Fla. Both the Flames and Lady Flames will attempt to defend their team titles from last season.
