    2021 Fall and 2022 Spring Non-Conference Schedule

The Liberty Flames men’s tennis team has released its 2021-22 fall and spring non-conference schedule.

Liberty’s fall season will get started Sept. 17-19 at the Duke Invitational. Meanwhile, the Flames’ challenging non-conference spring 2022 slate will feature matches against 10 nationally-ranked teams from 2021. The spring schedule will begin with the Liberty Hidden Dual, Jan. 14-16, and will feature Liberty, James Madison, Richmond and a yet to be determined team.

“We are excited about all of the strong tests this fall and spring,” stated Liberty Men’s Tennis Head Coach Derek Schwandt. “Our goal is to get better every day, and we look forward to competing against the best in college tennis.”

    Fall Schedule Summary
Following the Duke Invitational, the Flames will compete in two different events during the week of Oct. 4-10 – the ITA All-American Championships (Oct. 4-10, Tulsa, Okla.) and the Clemson Invitational (Oct. 8-10).

Liberty will serve as the host site for the ITA Atlantic Regional, Oct. 14-17. Those Flames advancing will move on to the ITA Atlantic Super Regional at Virginia, Oct. 21-24.

Those who advance out of the Super Regional will compete at the 2021 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, Nov. 4-7 at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Florida. During that same weekend, the rest of the Flames will be playing at home in the fall version of the Liberty Hidden Dual, featuring Penn, Penn State and Old Dominion.

    Spring Schedule Summary
Following the spring-opening Liberty Hidden Dual (Jan. 14-16), the Flames will take on No. 7 Virginia on the road, Jan. 20. Two days later (Jan. 22), Liberty will host No. 59 William & Mary.

The Flames will then compete at ITA Kickoff Weekend for a second straight year, hosted at South Carolina’s Carolina Tennis Center. Liberty will take on No. 36 Duke on Jan. 29 and then will meet either No. 13 South Carolina and No. 42 LSU in its second match of the weekend (Jan. 30).

Other ranked teams Liberty will face during the spring include: No. 68 Elon (away, Feb. 4), No. 53 Old Dominion (home, Feb. 20), No. 43 Miami (Fla.) (away, Feb. 27), No. 62 Georgia State (away, March 6), No. 63 Florida Atlantic (home, March 26) and No. 38 VCU (away, April 10).

The ASUN Conference portion of Liberty’s spring 2022 schedule will be released at a later date. The Flames captured the 2021 ASUN Championship crown over FGCU last spring, their first conference title in school history.
