Men’s Tennis Announces Addition of Miguel, Robinson and Gouws

The Liberty Flames men’s tennis program and Head Coach Derek Schwandt have announced the additions of Luis Felipe Queiroz Miguel, Chase Robinson and Ernest Gouws. All three will join the Flames starting in January 2023.

“Trevor and I are honored to welcome Luis Felipe, Chase and Ernst into the Liberty Flames family,” said Coach Schwandt. “Each of them has a bright personality, a love for team sport and are humble and hungry competitors. It will be exciting to see them grow on and off the court at Liberty.”

Luis Felipe Queiroz Miguel | Goiania, Brazil

A native of Goiania, Brazil, Queiroz Miguel has reached as high as No. 211 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior tennis world rankings.

Queiroz Miguel won four ITF J5 singles crowns and the ITF Lambare J3 doubles championship.

Chase Robinson | Spartanburg, South Carolina

Hailing from Spartanburg, S.C. Robinson has three USTA balls in doubles during his junior tennis career. Chase reached top 25 in the U18 USTA singles rankings and top 10 in U18 doubles.

Robinson went undefeated at the 2022 USTA National Team Championships. He won four rounds at the 2022 U18 USTA Hard Court National Championships.

Ernst Gouws | Stellenbosch, South Africa

Gouws climbed to No. 1 in the junior tennis rankings in South Africa. He was the doubles runner-up at the South Africa U18 national championship in 2021.

Gouws won the Cape Town and Durban Growthpoint Super 8 tournament. In addition to his junior tennis career, Gouws has been the captain and No. 1 player for his high school, Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
