Liberty’s Top Storylines
• Liberty and NC Central will be meeting for the first time despite only being separated by about 120 miles. The Flames are 27-3 all-time at Liberty Arena since the facility opened for the 2020-21 season.
• Liberty is 21-9 all-time versus opponents from the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC). The Flames have won 12 straight games against MEAC foes. Most recently, Liberty topped Delaware State 96-60 on Dec. 6, 2021 at Liberty Arena. Brody Peebles and Keegan McDowell led the way with 18 points each for the Flames, with McDowell knocking down 6-of-8 threes.
• Sophomore guard Brody Peebles enters the game as the team's leading scorer at 13.5 points per game. He scored 17 points in the opener vs. Regent and had 10 points at No. 19 Alabama, Friday. Peebles has nine career games in double figures.
• Since the start of the 2018-19 season, Liberty Head Coach Ritchie Mckay ranks No. 6 in the nation among all active Division I coaches in winning percentage. McKay and the Flames are 104-28 over the last four years for a .789 winning percentage
• McGhee has made 372 career three-pointers, which is the most among active players in Division I.
• McGhee has won 105 career games. He is the winningest individual player in school history.
• Liberty was picked to finish first in the ASUN in both the coaches and media polls.
• This will be Liberty's second home game of the year and first Division I opponent the Flames will face at Liberty Arena this season. The Flames topped Regent 104-38 in their home opener in front of 3,885 fans, the third largest crowd in Liberty Arena history.
