A long-time member of Liberty’s athletics department is now making the transition to the coaching ranks to join Liberty’s men’s golf program.

Flames Head Men’s Golf Coach Jeff Thomas has announced the hiring of Clint Lowe as Liberty’s new assistant men’s golf coach.

“I could not have asked for a better mentor over the years, and I am humbled and thankful for the opportunity,” said Lowe. “Coach Thomas has always been there for me, and I am very eager to get started. The Lord has blessed me with this opportunity. This team is a special group of guys that I am looking forward to helping on and off the course, while also continuing to help develop them into young men and to Training Champions for Christ!”

Lowe began his association with the men’s golf program when he started working as a practicum student for the Flames during the fall of 2012.

Following his practicum, Lowe remained with the program as a student manager for the next two and half years through the 2014-15 season.

As a student manager, Lowe gained valuable experience in helping set up for daily practice sessions, working on the golf driving range and assisting with setup for team travel.

During his three seasons with the program, Lowe helped Liberty’s men’s golf program capture the 2014 Big South Men’s Golf Championship and advance to two NCAA Regionals (2013 Fayetteville Regional and the 2014 Eugene Regional).

After completing his undergraduate degree, Lowe worked as a graduate assistant with Liberty’s Event Management team. He joined the Event Management staff in a full-time role in July 2017 as an Athletics Event Manager and served on staff until 2021.

In this role, Lowe facilitated game-day operations for Liberty’s athletics teams, working directly with coaches, visiting teams and officials. He also supervised a group of practicum students, interns and student volunteers to assist at events and gain valuable work experience.

During his time with the Event Management staff, Lowe was a member of the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA).

During the 2021-22 academic year, Lowe worked in sales for Gates Flag and Banner in Forest, Va., where he worked in customer relationship management.

Lowe graduated from Liberty in May 2015 with a B.S. in Sport Management. He then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree from Liberty in May of 2017.

Lowe was named the 2014-15 Sport Management Student of the Year after serving as a General Manager at Poplar Forest Golf Course in Forest, Va.

Lowe and his wife Jessie, who serves as the head coach of Liberty’s club women’s gymnastics program, currently reside in Lynchburg, Va.
