Liberty freshman Mary Herndon and junior Maddie Freece highlighted Liberty’s divers during day one of the WVU Invite, Thursday at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.

Liberty A and B Finalists

• Fr. Mary Herndon – Three-meter diving (6) (7th in A Final – 238.35, qualified in 273.75)

• Jr. Maddie Freece – Three-meter diving (6) (5th in B Final – 254.45, qualified in 241.45)

Notable

• Alabama’s Ryleigh Rodgers won the A Final with 321.90 points after scoring 290.55 to earn the top seed in qualifying.

• The Lady Flames are diving against 13 different schools at that meet this weekend. This weekend’s meet in Morgantown features three-meter today, one-meter tomorrow and a team event on Saturday.

• Liberty split its swimmers and divers this weekend. The Lady Flames’ swimmers will compete at the TYR ’85 Invite, tomorrow through Sunday at Liberty Natatorium

• Liberty’s divers are competing against divers from Alabama, Army, Colgate, Duquesne, East Carolina, James Madison, Navy, Seton Hall, St. Bonaventure, Toledo, Villanova, West Virginia and Youngstown State.

Historically Speaking

• Herndon improved her season best by over 16 points, as her score of 273.75 is ranked fifth on Liberty’s all-time top 10 performers list in three-meter diving.
