Liberty's Delaite Named to Atlantic-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team

6/16/2021 12:00:00 AM | Baseball

Liberty senior left-hander Trevor Delaite picked up another accolade, as he was selected to the 2021 Atlantic-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first team, earlier today. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Delaite has already been named one of six finalists for the National Pitcher of the Year and to the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I All-America baseball team. He was also the 2021 ASUN Pitcher of the Year and selected by the conference's coaches to the ASUN All-Conference first team.

Delaite finished the year with the most wins in a season in Liberty program history by posting a 12-1 record with a 2.17 ERA over 16 starts. In 107 2/3 innings, the Bangor, Maine native struck out 88 and walked 20.  In addition, the senior had a 1.08 WHIP and held opponents to a .215 batting average. He threw five complete games and posted three shutouts.

Delaite led the ASUN Conference in wins, innings pitched, complete games and shutouts. The left-hander is the first Liberty pitcher since Keegan Linza, who pitched five complete games in 2011, to throw five or more complete games in a season.

The senior posted a 7-0 record with a 1.65 ERA over 54 2/3 innings over his final seven outings of the season, helping the Flames post a 41-16 record and secure an at-large selection to the NCAA Knoxville, Tenn. Regional. Liberty won 40 or more games for the seventh time in school history and the second time under five-year head coach Scott Jackson. The left-hander pitched three complete games during the span.
