Liberty Women’s Tennis Adds O’Neill for 2022-23 School Year
The Liberty women’s tennis team has announced the addition of Daniella O’Neill for the 2022-23 school year.
“Daniella caught my attention the minute I saw her play. Her variety and athleticism is amazing. What was more amazing was her personality and her ability to fit into our team immediately,” said Liberty Women’s Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren. “The girls bonded with her during her visit, and we all felt a great connection with her. I have no doubt that she will help to elevate our program! I have full confidence that she will give us her best every day!”
O’Neill hails from Dorado, Puerto Rico and has been ranked No. 1 in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean during her junior tennis career. In September, she was ranked No. 77 nationally in girls U18. O’Neill has won 13 singles and 12 doubles tournaments during her time as a junior tennis player.
“I grew up on a small island in the Caribbean with a crazy dream to be a student-athlete and compete at the highest collegiate level. After ten years of hard work, fighting and persevering, God led me to Coach Maren’s path, and since his first email I felt my dream started to become reality,” O’Neill stated. “During my visit, it took just a single day of interacting with an amazing team (the girls, coaches and staff) and learning everything that Liberty has for their people to help me realize that this was the place I had always hoped for. I know that in these next four years, I will become a professional both inside and outside the court alongside this great family. Let’s go Flames!”
