    Liberty Volleyball Adds Curtis, Morris

    Jan 18, 2023 | Lynchburg Va | Volleyball

Liberty volleyball fifth-year head coach Trevor Johnson and his staff have announced the addition of Kate Curtis and Charli Morris to the team’s 2023 roster. Curtis has transferred from Auburn, while Morris graduated early from high school, and both have enrolled at Liberty for the spring 2023 semester.

Curtis and Morris join an incoming group of student-athletes which also includes previously-announced signee Lily Wagner.

Charli Morris (S/RS, 6-3, Lugoff, S.C./Lugoff-Elgin High School)
Charli Morris is a standout setter and right-side hitter for Lugoff-Elgin High School. A four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain, she was named both All-Region and All-State as a junior and senior. Morris was selected to compete in the North-South All-Star Game this year. The senior has been named to the AVCA Phenom Watch List, in addition to earning AAU Academic All-American and PrepVolleyball Academic All-American honors. She qualified for Upper State in javelin during the 2022 spring season.

“We are excited to add Charli Morris as a mid-year enrollee to our program,” Johnson said. “Charli is a 6-3 setter/right side who brings a versatile skill set to our program that we have never had. She can set and she can hit. Being as tall and athletic as she is, she is going to be a force at the net, and a problem for a lot of our opponents. We are excited to get to work with her and develop her skills this spring! I’m excited to see what God is going to do through Charli during her time here as a Flame.”

Kate Curtis (L/DS, 5-6, Anderson, S.C./T.L. Hanna High School (Auburn))
Kate Curtis is Liberty’s second SEC transfer in the last two years, joining Erica Lowery (Texas A&M). Curtis played all 28 matches for Auburn during the 2021 fall campaign, finishing third on the team with 196 digs. She recorded six double-digit dig matches, with a career high of 14 on Sept. 17, 2021 against Nicholls State. A standout in high school, she was named to the Under Armour All-American Watch List and Ultra Ankle JVA Watch List. Curtis collected over 1,100 digs while in high school, earning All-Region honors. She played her club volleyball with Upward Stars.

“We are also excited about the addition of Kate Curtis,” Johnson said. “Kate brings to our program the experience of playing Division I volleyball in the SEC, and depth to our already star studded libero position. Kate will bring a strong work ethic that will help elevate our program for years to come. I’m excited to see what God is going to do through Charli and Kate during their time here as Flames.”
