    2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams

For the second year in a row, Liberty student-athletes Jovaine Atkinson, Calli Doan and Noel Palmer were voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams.

For Atkinson and Palmer, this is their third appearance on the CoSIDA Academic All-District® squad. Atkinson was previously honored in 2018 and Palmer was recognized in 2019 prior to the duo’s 2020 and 2021 awards.

The trio will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. The 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams will be announced on Aug. 12. Atkinson was a second team CoSIDA Academic All-America® honoree in 2020.

A native of Spanish Town, Jamaica, Atkinson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics and a 3.83 final GPA. He was named to the 2021 ASUN All-Academic Team during his final season of outdoor track & field.

On the track, Atkinson was a VaSID First Team All-State hurdler as a senior. He qualified for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet in the 110 hurdles for the third time. Atkinson was the ASUN 110 hurdles runner-up, garnering his seventh career all-conference medal.

A native of Apex, N.C., Doan owns a 3.99 GPA as an exercise science major. She has earned numerous academic honors in 2021, headlined by ASUN Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year and USTFCCCA All-Academic Team laurels in cross country. Doan was also named to the VaSID Academic All-State Team.

Doan collected five All-ASUN medals this spring, including one in cross country and two apiece in indoor and outdoor track & field. She won three ASUN titles, including the indoor mile and distance medley relay and the outdoor steeplechase. Doan set school records in the indoor distance medley relay (11:41.12) and outdoor steeplechase (10:10.23). She also helped the women’s cross country team qualify for the NCAA national meet for the first time.

A native of Forest, Va., Palmer maintains a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. She was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for cross country and made the ASUN All-Academic Team for all three of her sports this spring (cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field).

Palmer was a first team All-ASUN honoree thanks to her seventh-place finish which helped the Lady Flames claim their first ASUN cross country team title. She then stepped up as Liberty’s No. 3 runner during the program’s first NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships appearance. On the track, Palmer came in fifth in the ASUN indoor 5K and posted the conference’s second-fastest 10K time of the season (34:48.51).
