Liberty Tops Longwood 4-0 to Sweep Saturday Doubleheader
The Liberty Lady Flames topped former Big South foe, the Longwood Lancers, by a score of 4-0 on Saturday evening at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.
Liberty bolsters its record to 3-1 this season. Meanwhile, Longwood slips to 0-3. The match was Liberty’s 12th straight win against Longwood. The Flames own a 17-4 record versus the Lancers.
Saturday night’s match was the second of a doubleheader for Liberty following a 4-2 win over East Carolina earlier in the day.

How It Happened
• Liberty got the first point of the match by winning doubles matches on courts two and one, respectively. Liberty’s doubles were led by the No. 2 pairing of Tiffany Nguyen and Micaela Ode Mitre, defeating Longwood’s Maria Saez and Nina Hederich 6-0.
• The Lady Flames’ Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Marina Davtyan clinched the doubles session with a 6-1 triumph over the Lancers’ Emma Nurgazieva and Karina Rizvanova.
• The Lady Flames’ first singles point was won by Liberty’s No. 1 Maria Juliana Parra Romero over Longwood’s Emma Nurgazieva, giving the hosts a 2-0 edge. Parra Romero did not drop a game in her match, winning 6-0, 6-0. The sophomore was 2-0 in singles today and is 4-0 in the No. 1 position, this spring.
• Liberty’s Esther Lovato won her match over Wiktoria Czerny at No. 4 singles Lovato claimed the first set 6-2 and led 2-0 in the second when Czerny retired.
• The clinching fourth point of the match came from Liberty’s No. 2 Marina Davytan, who didn’t drop a game to Longwood’s Maria Saez (6-0, 6-0 win).
Next Up
• The Lady Flames are on the road next week to face Michigan State (1-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center.
• This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
