Liberty will welcome No. 12 Florida to town for a Wednesday afternoon game. First draw is noon at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.

The Lady Flames are carrying a 3-2 record and three-game winning streak into the tilt. Liberty bested Old Dominion (18-7 final) and Robert Morris (18-5 final) in a pair of home games, last week. The Lady Flames are 2-1 home so far in 2022.

Meanwhile, Florida brings a 1-3 mark into the game. Three of the Gators’ first four games this year have been against top-five foes. Florida fell 14-13 to No. 5 Stony Brook in their most recent action, last Saturday at home.

This is the first time in Liberty Athletics history that Florida will be competing in Lynchburg.

Lady Flames News and Notes

• Liberty is the national leader in caused turnovers per game (15.00). The Lady Flames generated a season-best 21 caused turnovers against Robert Morris, last Saturday. Liberty finished the 2018 and 2019 seasons as the top team in the nation in that category.

• This is the first ranked team Liberty will face this season after the Lady Flames squared off with seven ranked teams a season ago. Both Vanderbilt (No. 19, 3-2) and Richmond (No. 22, 5-0), who Liberty faced to open the 2022 campaign, are now nationally ranked.

• Liberty ranks No. 2 in the country in ground balls per game (23.20), No. 3 in shots on goal per game (28.00), No. 8 in shots per game (35.60) and No. 15 in scoring offense (15.20).

• Three Liberty players rank in the top 20 in the nation in a different statistical category. Defender Hannah Quast ranks 15th in caused turnovers per game (2.20). Attacker Brooke Bryan is No. 17 in free-position goals per game (1.20). Goalkeeper Jennifer Soriero ranks 20th in goals-against-average (9.50).

• The Lady Flames have won back-to-back games by double digits for the first time since the 2018 campaign.

• Sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Lehman is off to a strong start to the 2022 season. The McMurray, Pa., native leads the team in goals (16), points (20) and draw controls (22). Lehman tallied 18 goals in 19 games as a freshman in 2021 while leading the squad with 53 draw controls.

• Florida is the first ranked opponent Liberty will face at home this season and first since the Lady Flames hosted No. 23 James Madison on April 1, 2021 (8-5 loss).

• This will be the second-ever meeting between the two squads. Florida topped Liberty 17-2 in Gainesville, Fla., last season (April 28, 2021) in the first meeting.
