Coming off its first win over an SEC foe in program history, the Liberty women’s tennis team will put its six-match winning streak on the line at No. 38 Charlotte on Sunday.

First serve between the Lady Flames (8-3) and 49ers (7-2) is slated for 1 p.m. at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

Liberty defeated Missouri 4-3 at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon for its sixth straight win. The Lady Flames’ Eloise Saraty (No. 2), Esther Lovato (No. 4), Tiffany Nguyen (No. 5) and Micaela Ode Mitre (No. 6) won their respective singles matches to lift the hosts to victory.

Charlotte has won its last five matches. The 49ers bested William & Mary 5-2 in their most recent contest, last Saturday. Charlotte will face Coastal Carolina on Friday prior to hosting Liberty.

    Lady Flames News and Notes
    • Liberty is 3-2 all-time against Charlotte. The Lady Flames and 49ers met during the 2021 season, with Charlotte winning that match 4-2.
    • Liberty holds a 1-1 record in away matches this season. The Lady Flames bested South Florida 4-2 last Saturday for their first road win. Liberty fell 4-1 at VCU, Feb. 4.
    • Lady Flames freshman Maria Juliana Parra Romero was named ASUN Player of the Week, Tuesday. Parra Romero won both of her No. 1 singles contests and went 1-0 at No. 2 doubles with partner Micaela Ode Mitre in matches against North Texas (neutral) and USF (road), last weekend.
    • A win on Sunday would extend Liberty’s winning streak to seven matches. The last time the Lady Flames won seven or more matches was in 2019, when they won eight straight matches to close the regular season.
    • Liberty is a combined 37-18 (.673) in singles and 18-13 (.581) in doubles during the spring campaign. Parra Romero and Lovato are both 7-2 in singles. The Lady Flames have used 14 different doubles combinations in their first nine matches.
    • Charlotte is the first ranked opponent the Lady Flames will face this season. This week, the ITA expanded its computerized rankings to list the top 75 teams in the country.
