    Lady Flames News and Notes
    • Liberty scored nine runs against No. 2 Virginia Tech on Tuesday, falling 13-9. Mary Claire Wilson hit a career-high two homers, including a grand slam off of defending ASUN Pitcher of the Year Keely Rochard, and tied a program single-game record with seven RBI. Caroline Hudson hit her team-leading 15th homer of the season to give Liberty a 2-0 lead in the game. The game was called due to weather in the bottom of the sixth.

    • With two more wins, Liberty’s ninth-year head coach Dot Richardson will become the second head coach in program history to earn 300 career coaching victories. Paul Wetmore, the all-time winningest coach in Liberty Athletics history, was announced as a member of the Liberty Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022 on Tuesday.

    • Liberty is one out of just two NCAA Division I teams to enter this week undefeated in conference play, joining Boston University (15-0 in Patriot League).

    • With one win against Stetson, Liberty would tie USC Upstate (22-2 2014) for the most ASUN wins in a single season in conference history. No ASUN team has ever gone unbeaten in a full conference schedule.

    • Through 21 conference games, Liberty leads the ASUN in on base percentage (.402), runs (135) and RBI (128). Liberty also leads in the ASUN in conference-only ERA (1.24) and strikeouts per seven innings (6.85).

    • In conference play, Kara Canetto holds the ASUN lead with a .458 batting average (27-for-59), while Caroline Hudson leads with nine homers (tied) and 27 RBI. Devyn Howard leads in walks (18). Emily Kirby leads the ASUN with a 0.85 conference ERA, 10.29 strikeouts per seven innings and nine conference victories. Liberty pitchers have the top three ASUN-only ERA’s (Kirby – 0.85, Keeney – 1.11, Wagoner – 1.24).

    • The Lady Flames have won 34 straight ASUN regular-season games, a streak that started on April 3, 2021. Liberty is 53-7 all-time in ASUN regular-season games, posting 16 ASUN series sweeps and 11 series sweeps in a row.

    • Liberty has gone 19-5 at home this season, including 2-3 versus Top 25 teams and 9-0 in ASUN home games. Since the start of the 2018 season, Liberty is 91-14 (.867) at Liberty Softball Stadium, including 36-3 (.923) in home conference games during that span.

    • The Lady Flames need two more wins to earn 40 wins for the fifth straight full season (2017-19, 2021-22) and seventh 40-win season in program history. Entering Thursday, only Oklahoma (45-1) and Florida State (45-5) can say that they have won 40 or more games each of the last five full seasons or more. Liberty (38-15), UCLA (39-6), Florida (38-13), Louisiana (38-11) and Tennessee (35-14) are nearing that distinction.
