Liberty to Host FGCU in ASUN Home Opener, Saturday and Sunday
Liberty (17-10, 3-0 ASUN) hosts FGCU (20-13, 2-1) for a three-game series, Saturday and Sunday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium. The Lady Flames will hold Alumni Weekend, with 10 or more alumni scheduled to attend and be honored prior to Saturday’s first game.

• The Lady Flames saw their 15-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night at No. 14 Duke, but responded with a 5-1 win at North Carolina on Wednesday. Karlie Keeney went the distance at UNC, allowing one unearned run, while Megan Fortner batted 2-for-3 with a homer and Rachel Craine went 2-for-4 with a double in the comeback win over the Tar Heels.
• Liberty is 12-0 at home this season, The Lady Flames have outscored opponents 100-28 at Liberty Softball Stadium, with Karlie Keeney (8-0, 0.89) and Paige Bachman (3-0, 0.65) tossing stellar outings at home. On offense, Rachel Roupe has batted .500 with 17 RBI at home, while Caroline Hudson hit .444 with five doubles, seven homers and 20 RBI in 12 home games so far this season.
• Karlie Keeney (11-5, 1.89 ERA), this week’s ASUN Pitcher of the Week, leads the ASUN with 11 victories and is tied for 10th in the nation with four shutouts. Paige Bachman (5-4, 2.24) struck out a career-high seven batters on Feb. 10 against Duke and tied that mark last Thursday at Eastern Kentucky.
• Rachel Craine bats a team-best .323 and doubled in both games earlier this week. Mary Claire Wilson (.319) has hit .385 with six stolen bases during the last 10 games, while Megan Fortner (.317) has been on a tear in the last 10 contests, with a .444 average, three homers, eight RBI and 10 runs scored. Rachel Roupe (.302) has hit a team-high two grand slams and is the only ASUN player with 18 or more of both runs scored (20) and RBI (18) so far this season. Caroline Hudson (.301) leads the ASUN with eight homers, while Devyn Howard (.292) is tied for the ASUN lead with 25 runs scored.
• Liberty senior Emily Estroff will have the opportunity to face her former team, as she played for FGCU from 2020-22 before transferring to Liberty. Raigan Barrett faced her former squad, Feb. 10 against Washington, while Alabama transfer Savannah Woodard will face the Crimson Tide on April 18.
