    The Liberty women’s tennis team will head to Texas for a pair of matches during Spring Break. The Lady Flames will square off with UTSA on Sunday, followed by a match at Texas State on Wednesday.

    Sunday’s match between Liberty and UTSA will commence at 3 p.m. Eastern, 2 p.m. Central. The contest will be held at the UTSA Tennis Center in San Antonio, Texas. The Lady Flames and Texas State Bobcats will square off at 3 p.m. Eastern (2 p.m. Central) at the Bobcat Tennis Complex in San Marcos, Texas.

    Liberty is 9-4 on the season and has won seven of its last eight matches. The Lady Flames defeated William & Mary 4-3 in a road match, last Saturday in their most recent contest.

    UTSA is 1-12 on the year and has lost nine straight. The Roadrunners fell 4-2 to Gonzaga, Thursday. Texas State currently holds a 3-7 mark. The Bobcats lost to UT Arlington by a 5-2 score, Wednesday in their most recent action.

    Lady Flames News and Notes
    • Liberty and UTSA will be meeting for the second time. The Lady Flames are 0-1 all-time against the Roadrunners. UTSA bested Liberty 4-3 in the first meeting (March 11, 2014).
    • This will be the first dual match between the Lady Flames and Texas State Bobcats.
    • Liberty competed in the Lone Star State to close out its fall campaign. The Lady Flames played at the North Texas Mean Green Invite, featuring competitors from North Texas, UT Arlington, UTEP and VCU.
    • The Lady Flames’ Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Esther Lovato both sport an 8-2 spring singles record. Tiffany Nguyen (5-1) and Micaela Ode Mitre (5-2) each have five victories.
    • Lovato ranks first in program history for career singles winning percentage (.853). She is 58-10 in singles matches in her time at Liberty. Parra Romero is 19-4 this season in singles for a .826 winning percentage, currently the sixth best single-season winning percentage in school history.
    • Liberty is 2-2 in road contests, 6-0 at home and 1-2 in neutral site matches.
    • Following their trip to Texas, the Lady Flames will open ASUN play at Kennesaw State next Friday. Liberty will finish its current six-match road trip at FGCU, March 20.
