Bowl bound for the fourth year in a row, Liberty has accepted an invitation to play in the Boca Raton Bowl against Toledo on December 20 in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Flames will square off against the Rockets at FAU Stadium on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN.

Toledo claimed the MAC Championship title yesterday with a 17-7 win over Ohio, upping its record to 8-5. The Rockets finished the regular season tied for first place in the MAC West Division standings with Eastern Michigan.

The Flames have squared off against Toledo three times in school history. The Rockets have won all three prior meetings in Toledo, Ohio, when the Flames were an FCS program (1994 – L/ 37-47; 2003 – L/ 3-49; 2007 – L/ 34-35).

Liberty will make its fourth-straight bowl game appearance following wins in the Cure Bowl in 2019 and 2020 and a victory in the LendingTree Bowl in 2021.

Liberty defeated Georgia Southern, 23-16, in 2019 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fla., in the 2019 Cure Bowl. The Flames capped of a 10-2 season with a thrilling overtime win over No. 9 Coastal Carolina, 37-34, at the 2020 Cure Bowl in Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

Last year, Liberty reeled off 43-straight points en route to a 56-20 win over Eastern Michigan at the 2021 LendingTree Bowl at Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala.

Liberty, who joined the FBS ranks for their first full season in 2019, is the third current FBS team to become bowl eligible in each of its first four seasons since transitioning from the FCS to FBS (Appalachian State: 2015-present; Marshall: 1997-02).

The Flames entered the 2022 season as one of five FBS teams in the country who have won a bowl game each of the last three seasons, joining Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Louisiana.

Liberty is 8-4 on the season and was ranked as high as No. 19 in the country in the Associated Press and AFCA Coaches Polls in early November. The Flames won six games in a row in 2022, including victories over BYU and Arkansas. Boca Raton Bowl Ticket Information
